Dost Ongur is the William P. and Henry B. Test Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Psychotic Disorders Division at McLean Hospital. He received a BA in Biochemistry from Oberlin College, an MSc in Neuroscience from Yale University, and an MD/PhD in Neurobiology from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his residency training in Psychiatry at McLean Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated institution.

His clinical and research work focuses on the neurobiology of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders, using structural and functional brain imaging techniques and electroencephalography. He also directs clinical trials investigating novel psychotropic medications. Öngür serves as Editor-in-Chief of JAMA Psychiatry, a leading journal in the field, and has received the Kempf and Granick Awards from the American Psychiatric Association. His research has been supported by NIH grants for more than 25 years, and he has authored over 300 scientific publications.
