Michael G. Palfreyman, PhD, DSc

Michael G. Palfreyman is a seasoned leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, with more than 40 years of experience in drug discovery and development.
He earned a B.Pharm. (Honors), a PhD in Pharmacology, and a DSc from the University of Nottingham before beginning his career in the pharmaceutical industry at Beecham Pharmaceuticals in 1970. He later spent 18 years at Marion Merrell Dow, where he rose to Vice President of Research.
Palfreyman subsequently pursued opportunities in biotechnology, including roles at Psychiatric Genomics, En Vivo, and Cybin. Across these organizations, he played an instrumental role in securing venture capital and developing research infrastructure. His research has focused on drugs targeting biogenic amines and GABA, and more recently, the mechanisms and therapeutic potential of psychedelics. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and two books and holds over 50 patents.
